How to replace a bimetallic radiator with a tubular one?
When you are renovating your own apartment or house, you always want to buy the highest quality, functional and durable materials and appliances that will also please you with their appearance. But, as practice shows, the final repair budget does not coincide with the planned one and it is necessary to save. You start to think about what you can save on, and what you can't, what to replace, and what to leave from the developer as it is. And heating devices, which will be discussed, often fall under such a compromise.
During the renovation process, a bimetallic radiator from the developer was left in the kitchen:
The radiator was in a prominent place and always annoyed the customer with its already boring appearance. Therefore, when the owner had funds, he decided to replace the radiator from the developer with a designer one. The main task was to choose and install a new radiator on the already existing terminals so as not to touch the painted wall.
This task "with an asterisk" was just for Bauheat specialists. In fact, it was necessary to choose a radiator:
1) which has the same interaxial distance between the inlet and outlet of the coolant
2) in which the distance from the wall to the center of the entrance to the radiator will be the same or less than that of the existing radiator
3) the length of the new radiator should be similar to the old one (so that the radiator is in the center of the window)
In the end, the choice fell on the tubular radiator of the Italian manufacturer Irsap, model Tesi 2. The assortment of this factory includes a special series of tubular radiators to replace cast iron, bimetallic and aluminum sectional radiators with an interaxial distance of 500 mm. It was also decided to replace the old radiator faucets with a set of faucets in chrome (the option of a set in the color of the radiator is possible, but in this case it did not fit the budget).
Next, we will talk about the detailed step-by-step process of replacing the radiator:
1) Delivery of a new radiator to the object
2) Shut off the heating system at the entrance to the apartment
3) Drain the water from the old radiator
4) Unscrew the American screws and remove the radiator
5) We dismantle old faucets and brackets (the holes from the fasteners are covered with plaster)
6) We install new faucets on the tubular radiator Irsap Tesi 2
7) We install fasteners on the radiator
8) We mark on the wall and install new fasteners
9) We cut the output tubes to the length we need
10) We clean the tube from burrs from the outside and inside (so as not to damage the rubber band on the fitting later)
11) Put on the fitting and expand the tube
12) We install a new radiator
13) We fill the new radiator with coolant, bleed the air and check the tightness of the system.
14) We enjoy the result of work and a satisfied customer)
